Just who is walking around our school this week? Our students are looking very different than they usually do. Between the Lower School students dressing up as people from Tanach, middle school girls dressing as twins, students dressing as their favorite profession and a comfy pajama day, everyone is getting into the Adar spirit! There was so much creativity on display this week and the students had a fantastic time dressing up in honor of Purim!

We are so proud of TDSA alumnus Oren Diener who completed his basic training for the Kfir Unit of the IDF this week. After an incredibly grueling training process, Oren is now ready to help defend the Jewish People as part of the Israeli Defense Force. Oren's father, Chuck Diener (Former TDSA Basketball Coach!) and his brothers (and TDSA Alumni) Amos and Ilan attended Oren's Tekes Hashba'a (swearing in ceremony) and were bursting with pride, just like the rest of Oren's TDSA family!

In honor of the monthy of Adar, doors all over the school have been decorated to reflect the fun Adar Spirit permeating TDSA. Doors decorated with balloons, Purim masks, Hamantashen and more are everywhere. The sixth graders even decorated their door in the most adorable way-with baby pictures of themselves and their teachers. There's such an amazing amount of creativity on display and we can't wait to see how the rest of the classes decorate their doors in honor of Purim!

In honor of the 100th day of school, last Thursday, the wonderful students in Kitah K marshalled the school into collecting 100 $1 bills and 100 dry food items to donate to Yad L'Yad. Last Friday, when the students counted what they collected they discovered that they collected a staggering $192. That's almost double their goal! They also collected 133 food items. The students were so excited and proud of what they accomplished!

Torah Day School of Atlanta really "caught" the spirit of fun at this year's Purim Parade. The school float, decorated with banners, balloons and pennants and filled with smiling students waving TDSA flags showed how TDSA spreads the spirit of Torah wherever we go!

On Wednesday, our first grade boys put on a beautiful performance about the importance of Tefillah. They demonstrated for their parents all their hard work and practice over the last few weeks preparing for their Siddur Play. The boys danced, performed and touched everyone's hearts with their enthusiasm and excitement. Mazal Tov on this incredible milestone and may you all use your siddirum to connect with davening and Hashem!

For the past few weeks the third grade boys and girls have been hard at work with Rabbi Rubin. They chose shapes, cut them out of wood and constructed and decorated their own wooden noisemakers for Purim. The students finished them just in time to parade through the halls with their "raashanim" in honor of Rosh Chodesh Adar!

In STEAM, the second grade girls have been digging into the study of plants, ecosystems and the water-cycle. The students utilized their new knowledge to create their own terrariums in a bottle. The students used different types of dirt and substrate as well as succulents and other plants to construct a contained ecosystem. Now all that's left to do is watch them grow!
