TDSA's third grade boys were immersed in scientific discovery on their trip to the Tellus Museum this Thursday. They performed experiments and were treated to a planetarium show. The boys spent an enjoyable time exploring the fascinating exhibits around the museum. Overall the boys were caught up in the spirit of discovery and had a fantastic time!

The Gettysburg Address by President Abraham Lincoln remains one of the most significant speeches given in American History. Mrs. Bram's sixth grade social studies class has been studying the Civil War and as a part of their studies were challenged to memorize the Gettysburg Address in its entirety. Several students recited the Gettysburg Address in front of the class, demonstrating their knowledge and one even dressed up as Abraham Lincoln to increase the drama and pathos of this incredible and historic speech.

In Social Studies, Mrs. Bram's fifth grade students have been learning about colonial trade and trade routes. To demonstrate what they've been learning, 5B set up a mock trading post between Native Americans seeking goods and European Settlers seeking furs. Each team had a goal of goods and amounts to acquire and they bartered items to trade.

Can you believe we're so close to the 100th day of school? Our Kindergarteners can't believe it either. This week, they made posters together, visited all the classes in the school and asked students to contribute cans and $1 bills so that they can collect 100 cans and 100 $1 bills for their 100 Mitzvos Project! Stay tuned to see if the Kindergarten is able to reach their goal-and don't forget to bring in cans and money for Yad L'Yad to help them reach their goal!

In STEAM the fourth grade girls did a deep dive into the forces of magnetism. The girls played around with magnets and gained a fuller understanding of how magnets operate and their utility. Leveraging their new knowledge, the girls designed locks that open and close using magnets, bringing a real world application to their theoretical knowledge.

Kudos to our PTA for putting together a beautiful evening for TDSA's mothers! The PTA hosted a mom's night out on Motze Shabbos and the assembled mothers enjoyed socializing and learning all about how to make sourdough. A special thank you to our PTA for organizing and decorating this beautiful event and to Melissa Cavalier, Sarena Safier and Elisheva Storch for sharing your in-depth knowledge about making sourdough!

After weeks and weeks of preparation, our 1G parents were treated to a phenomenal performance by their adorable children. In the weeks leading up to the siddur play, the first graders had multiple conversations with our eighth grade girls and they discussed in depth what tefillah is and what it means to them. At the siddur play, the eighth graders and first graders shared what they had learned from each other with their parents. Then, the students danced and sang their way through a musical production about the beauty and importance of Tefillah. All the parents, grandparents, and family members present were bursting with pride as each girl came up to the front of the stage to receive her very own siddur! Congratulations Kitah Alef on this amazing milestone! May you continue to grow and strengthen your connection to Hashem through Tefillah!

How much do you really know about how a library runs? Our 5th Grade ELA Enrichment group got a behind-the-scenes tour of the Toco Hills Library. The students met with Mrs. Brook, the youth services librarian. She gave the students a tour of the library and explained how the library is organized. Following the tour, the students completed a scavenger hunt, found books to take out and flexed their engineering skills by building with the library's Lego kits.

In STEAM this week, the Kindergarten Boys did some deep thinking about Groundhog Day. They were wondering if an animal like a groundhog can really predict the weather. They discussed the myth of Groundhog Day and where the light needs to be in order for Punxsutawney Phil to see his own shadow. They then modeled this by creating their own groundhog models and testing the direction their models would have to stand to see their shadow.
