EDUCATION TAX CREDIT

GA Tax Credit Program

The Georgia Private School Tax Credit Program has become a critical source of financial support for children at Torah Day School of Atlanta. This program, established in 2008, allows individual taxpayers and certain corporations to redirect their taxes to a scholarship fund for Torah Day School students. Both taxpayers and corporations may take a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for their contributions, making the program practically cost free to donors.

A donation is made to a non-profit Student Scholarship Organization, or SSO, which uses the funds to provide scholarships to children whose parents are unable to afford the full cost of private school tuition. Students eligible to receive scholarships include those entering kindergarten or first grade as well as those transferring from public schools. Once a student is eligible for a scholarship, he or she retains his or her eligibility through 12th grade. Since 2008, tax dollars have provided millions of dollars in TDSA scholarships.
