LEADERSHIP

Rabbi Meir Cohen has taught both Judaica and general studies classes from 1st grade through high school.   His first leadership role was as the General Studies Principal at the Mechina of South Florida.  He then moved on to become the first Principal of the newly opened Torah Academy of Jacksonville and Assistant Head of School at San Diego Hebrew Day School.  Rabbi Cohen joined Torah Day School of Atlanta as Head of School in July of 2018. 

Beyond his wide range of experience, Rabbi Cohen has always valued professional education and growth.  In addition to Semicha from Yeshiva v’Kollel Beis Moshe Chaim, he earned a BS in Biology at Florida Atlantic University, an Masters degree in Educational Leadership from Barry University and an Educational Doctorate in Jewish Education and Administration from the Azrieli School at Yeshiva University.

Outside of school, Rabbi Cohen enjoys spending time with his wife Daliah and their children and grandchildren. He also appreciates learning about  different parts of this country and the world through travel. 

A Georgia native, Mrs. Haller was drawn to education at an early age.  She has always loved working with kids and seeing their curiosity and passion to try new things. She first pursued her passion for education at  Washington University in St. Louis where she earned a double Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education and political science.  She further developed her study of pedagogy through the YIEP program from Bellvue University, earning a Masters Degree  in Educational Leadership.  She also holds a degree from the American Montessori Society in Princeton, NJ.  After teaching in the New Jersey/New York metropolitan area including Joseph Kushner Hebrew Academy, she and her family moved back to Atlanta 10 years ago.  Mrs. Haller first joined the staff of TDSA as a general studies teacher and was promoted Principal 5 years ago. 

When not at school, Mrs. Haller may be found enjoying time with her husband Yaakov and their children cooking or taking outdoor hikes and adventures.

Originally from New Jersey, Rabbi Oratz joined TDSA in 2014 after 4 years in the Atlanta Scholars Kollel.  Prior to joining the Atlanta community, he learned Torah at Ner Israel Rabbinical College, and earned his Masters in the Science of Education from the University of Maryland.  Rabbi Oratz is passionate about guiding and cultivating future generations to connect with Hashem and fulfill their unique life mission as is evidenced in the text above excerpted from his annual welcome speech.

When not in school, Rabbi Oratz enjoys spending time with his wife Temima and their children playing games, doing escape rooms, reading, going on road trips and hikes, being creative, and learning Torah with each other.

Originally from New Jersey, Mrs. Malka Landman attended Stern College and graduated with a BA in Judaic Studies.  She continued on at Bank Street College earning a Masters Degree in Special Education.  Drawn to the special needs community, she has found that building confidence and skills to help and support children who learn differently is so rewarding - helping build a strong foundation that they can then continue to grow from and discover/realize  their own potential and greatness is incredibly meaningful.

Before moving to Atlanta and joining the TDSA family in 2006, Mrs. Landman put her skills to work at The Heschel School, Ramaz, and The Gateway School in New York. 

Outside of school, Mrs. Landman enjoys spending time with her husband Eli and their children, or curled up with a good book.
