How do snowflakes happen? It doesn't just have to do with freezing weather, it's the way the water freezes. In STEAM, the first grade boys learned all about snowflake formation. Each is unique and because of the way the water freezes, the snowflakes also tend to be symmetrical. The boys practiced making their own paper snowflakes to make the concept of symmetry tangible.
