How do you make the word CAT? Our kindergarten students practiced their letter and sound recognition skills with a fun challenge using their word boards. Armed with all the letters of the alphabet, Morah Mindy asked the students to make different words just by listening to her say them. The students had to correctly identify the sounds and match the right letter to the right spot in the word. Even more fun, the students got to play around with changing one letter in the word and seeing how the sound and meaning of the word changed. All of these are critical pre-reading skills that will bring students to a higher level of reading fluency.
