Mrs. Bradberry's second grade has been working on learning what a sentence needs in order for it to be a complete sentence. They first learned that sentences have a naming part and then a telling part, known as a subject and a predicate. Students practiced making sure their sentences had a subject and predicate and were able to identity them. For “Surgery Day” the girls had the opportunity to dress up like doctors and have a whole day dedicated to “performing” surgery on different sentences. They had different stations, station one was math word problems about doctors, station two was picking a subject card and predicate card and “perform surgery” to create a silly sentence, station 3 was looking at a sentence and adding descriptive words to it and station 4 was a writing activity. The girls had a blast working with their new writing skills!
