Proud of our Pumpkins!

It's surprising how much their is to know about pumpkins. This week, our Kindergarten students became pumpkin investigators and learned all there is to know about these fun fall fruits. They started off by learning about the life-cycle of a pumpkin and how the pumpkin grows from a seed to a giant fruit.  The students also practiced drawing pumpkins by counting the number of lines on the pumpkin and examining its shape. They explored the color of pumpkins with a fun pumpkin painting activity. The students also examined the properties of a pumpkin from how heavy it is, to if it can float. Surprisingly, despite how heavy they are the students saw with their own eyes that pumpkins do indeed float! Pumpkins even permeated math this week as the students sorted and counted pumpkin seeds. By far one of the highlights of the week was the virtual tour of the Libby's Canned Pumpkin factory. The students then got to use canned pumpkin to make muffins that they got to taste. What a fun and delicious week of learning it was!
