It's a "Sick Day" in the Library!

What would you do if you had a bad case of the stripes? Would you stay home from school? That's what the main character in the David Shannon book " A Bad Case of The Stripes" chose to do. During Library class the students listened to a reading of the book "A Bad Case of the Stripes." There was a lively class discussion about being yourself and bullying, themes which are very pertinent to "A Bad Case of the Stripes." The students also listened to several other books and poems about the theme of being sick. A particular favorite was the poem "Sick" by Shel Silverstein, which had all the students chuckling. After completing the reading and class discussions, the students were excited to make doctor puppets, fill doctor bags, do "Sick Day" word searches and puzzles and, of course, browse the library for more books.
