In Rabbi Alterman's fourth grade classroom, students are really 'devouring' what they learn. In this case, we mean that literally. To tangibly demonstrate the concept that the shorter shofar blasts are 'sandwiched' between two longer blasts the boys constructed shofar sandwiches. The tea biscuits represented the long-blasts (Tekiah), and the frostings represented the shorter blasts (Shvarim and Teruah). When the boys were done with their shofar sandwich models, they were able to eat them!
