Shofar is one of the most easily recognizable mitzvos of Rosh Hashana. On Monday, Rabbi Oratz's eighth grade class had a larger-than-life visitor, Rabbi Silverman. Rabbi Silverman imparted much of his extensive knowlege about the Halachos of blowing Shofar. He walked the boys through the halachic reasoning behind why we blow a certain number of Kolos "blasts" and the root for the three different sounds that we make with the shofar. The boys then had the opportunity to blow the shofar for themselves.
