Kindergarten learned how to figure out how many syllables are in a word just by clapping their hands. Morah Mindy called out a word and the kindergarten students clapped along to it. They counted how many times there were able to clap while enunciating the word and that’s how many syllables the word has. “Bu-ter-fly” had three claps so that word had 3 syllables, while “fish” has one clap so it only has one syllable.
