In Social Studies Kindergarten began learning about the American holiday of Thanksgiving. They learned about the Pilgrims’ voyage to America with the purpose of being able to practice their religion freely. The students thought about how tremendously thankful they are today that we can daven how we want to, and celebrate Jewish holidays freely here in America. The students even took a quick virtual field trip to Plymoth Plantation to see examples of how they lived 400 years ago! Wow, are we thankful for all the things (sinks, ovens, washing machines, grocery stores) we now have that they didn’t! The students created a list of many things they are thankful for. They used this list to help them write down the top 6 things they are thankful for on their Thankful Turkey Thanksgiving project. Whether you have the tradition of celebrating Thanksgiving or not, it’s always great to take a moment to think of all you are grateful for! AND we are thankful for the opportunity to teach your child!
